Trabajó por 6 años como Asociado Senior en Goodrich, Riquelme y Asociados, una de las firmas de abogados más importantes de México en el área de consultoría y litigio fiscal y administrativo.

Se ha desempeñado profesionalmente en el extranjero y en particular en el Reino Unido de la Gran Bretaña, como Miembro Ejecutivo del Comité Pro Bono de Cambridge asesorando a la Corte Inter-Americana de Derechos Humanos y participó junto con TrustLaw Connect, la rama Pro Bono de la Fundación Thomson Reuters.

Participó en la asesoría sobre el mercado automotriz y de competencia económica en una firma de abogados londinense.

Edgar L. Espejel is a legal counsel for international and national companies with more than 10 years of experience in the area of business law. His expertise includes contract drafting and negotiation; corporate and tax planning; corporate governance; foreign investments and financing; professional assistance in intellectual property protection; tax, administrative and commercial litigation; participation in public biddings; injunction actions and constitutional remedies. Mr. Espejel has practiced both as a consultant and a litigator, and he has focused on the consultancy, management and prevention of legal risks. He is a founding partner of E&M Business Lawyers.

Before founding E&M Business Lawyers, Mr. Espejel was Senior Counsel of the Blue Marine Technology Group, a Mexican Oil & Gas company, and Nissan Mexicana, a transnational automotive company, where his professional activities focused on legal consultancy, project financing, trust incorporations, contract drafting and negotiation, international and national tax and corporate planning, corporate governance, intellectual property issues and international commercial litigation.

Furthermore, he worked for 6 years as a senior attorney in the tax and administrative area of one of the top-ranked law firms in Mexico.

In addition, Mr. Espejel has had international legal experience - in England in particular - as a member of the Executive Committee of the Cambridge Pro Bono Project, advising the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in different cases and partnering with Trustlaw Connect, the Pro Bono branch of the Thomson Reuters Foundation for the promotion of its work at the University of Cambridge. In addition, he provided consultancy services in the automotive market and participated in international antitrust litigation in a London law firm.

Mr. Espejel received his LLM degree from the University of Cambridge. He was awarded the Cambridge Overseas Trust Scholarship, sponsored by HRH the Prince of Wales and the Brockmann Foundation. He is the first Mexican lawyer to have been awarded this full scholarship at Cambridge University. Additionally, Mr. Espejel obtained his bachelor’s degree with honors at the “Universidad La Salle” in Mexico City, and he was awarded, with honors, a specialization degree in tax law and corporate law by the “Universidad Panamericana” and the “Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM)”, respectively. He is a native Spanish speaker, fully proficient in the English language and has a basic understanding of French and Russian.
